Strawberry Fields Tee
I’m super happy to take time to discussed more in details about my new pattern: the Strawberry Fields Tee. It’s a perfect summer tee with a lovely raglan decoration and a rib pattern on the body & sleeve. I decided to make a little crop version to be able to wear it very easily with a short, a skirt or a jean.

The Strawberry Fields Tee pattern
The Strawberry Fields Tee is a perfect summer tee with a lovely raglan decoration work in lace stitch and a rib pattern on the body & sleeve. In this pattern, I choose to make a crop version that I find perfect for the summer, but it’s possible to make it longer for that you will need to add few cm of the lace pattern before knitted the twisted rib at the bottom (be carefull to have some extra yarn available for that). This crop version is perfect to be wear on a skirt, a short, or a jean.
For the knitting part, this tee is knitted in the round, top down & seamless (I believe that’s my favorite combinaison). All edges are made with twisted rib.
Regarding difficulty level, the test knitters gave a 4/5 as all the finishing are made with speficique techniques like tubular cast on or italien bind-off. Of course, you need to know how to knit in the round and follow a lace pattern at the same time for the body, the sleeves and the raglan. To knit the lace stitch, you willl follow a chart.
All the techniques are explained in step by step videos to help you.
This pattern is a little bit long as the pattern is different for all sizes on the written explanations and chart. If you wish to print the pattern, be carefull to select only the interesting parts for your size !
The yarn
Perfectly adapted to spring and summer, this tee is knitted with a combinaison of fingering and lace yarn. It’s also possible to knit it with only one strand of sport yarn.
For my version, I have used : alpakka silke from Sandnes Garn color Warm Brown (for the fingering yarn) combined with Trio from Isager color Blush (for the lace yarn). I love this combinaison as the color is really gorgeous and change depending of the sun light. Combine this two strands together also allow my to obtain a spotted effect on the tee. With this yarn selection, this tee is more adapted to spring than summer, even if the alpaga yarn have thermoregulation properties that’s a warmer yarn than 100% cotton.
Here some proposition of other possible yarns.
If you wish to work with two strands of yarn, you can for instance combine:
- From Knitting for olive: Cotton Merinos (70% cotton & 30% merinos, 50g = 250m, 6,7€) with the Pure Silk (100% silk, 50g = 250m, 7,7€)
- From Isager: Hor Organic (100% flax, 50g=170m, 9,75€) with the Trio (50% flax, 30% cotton & 20% bambou, 50g=350m, 8,4€)
If you wish to work with one strand of yarn, you can for instance use:
Warning, when you change the yarn from a design that’s super important to make a gauge to know if you need to adapte the needles size or if you need to take into consideration a differencies with the gauge from the pattern.
This outfit
I love to wear my version with a simple white jean as my version is colorful and very present.
For the summer, it’s perfect to wear with a skirt or a short !
My version is knitted with 9cm of positive ease. I’m use to wear more fitted clothes but I hadn’t expected it to grown as much while blocking. Perhaps, I will make a new version more fitted to have a different style that could be lovely too.
Hack ideas ?
A long sleeve or ¾ sleeve version is totally feasible (with a little more yarn). As this tee is knitted from top-down, you can easily try your project while knitting. So it will be easy to knit long sleeve while trying your project as you go to make sure you have the right sleeve width and length. You must continue to make decreases on both sides of the stitch marker, you can repeat the decreases explained in the pattern.
To change the lace stitch, you can make the loop of yarn in a different yarn color or if you are working with two strands you can use only one of them. The “strawberry/cable” pattern will disappear to look more like leaves.
Here for instance some gauge made with (from top down):
- Alpakka silke from Sandnes Garn color Warm Brown combine with Trio from Isager color Blush
- Alpakka silke from Sandnes Garn color Warm Brown combine withPaïa from Filcolana color 704 (loop of yarn knitted only with the Païa yarn)
- Alpakka silke from Sandnes Garn color Warm Brown combine withMWT from Yarn by Simone color Pépéte to make a jacquard with the lace stitch (warning, zero explanation is included inside the pattern to make a jacquard, the gauge obtained with these yarn isn’t good)
Unlock your creativity and have fun with this lace stitch !
