How to knit a Clotilde Sweater with the alpaca wool from The Yarn Lover ?
The Clotilde Sweater is a knitting pattern from Knitting For Olive (available in englaish, french and many other languages) that I was wishing to knit since a long time. I like this design due to it’s graphic lace stitch used. For this pattern, the recommanded yarn is a combinaison of 3 yarn strands but it’s of course possible to replace this combinaison by another yarn. To do this you need to start by a gauge and compare it with the gauge indication available inside the pattern to know if you need to make some adaptation to the pattern.
In my case, I choose the Alpaga wool from The Yarn Lover (50g = 50m). This yarn is thick enough to replace the 3 yarn strands recommanded by the pattern. Here a summary of the modifications to follow if you wish to make the Clotilde sweater with this yarn.
Gauge: 11 stitches x 16 rows, 8mm needles, stockinette stitch, 1 strands of alpaca wool The Yarn Lover.
Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL
Number of yarn balls needed: 10, 10, 11, 13, 15, 15
Needles: 6,5 & 8 mm
If you obtained the same gauge than me, the yarn substitution will not change the sweater circumference, so you can choose the size you wish following the recommendation from Knitting For Olive. But the total length of the sweater will be a little bit shorter, so it will be needed to knit few more rows at the end of the body and the sleeves to obtain the same result than the initial pattern.

For the needle, use 6.5mm needle to knit the 1/1 rib (neck, end of the body & the sleeves) and 8mm needle for the rest.
Ribbed neck: Follow the pattern explanations using 6.5mm needles.
Yoke: Follow the pattern explanations using 8 mm needles.
Body: Follow the pattern explanations using 8 mm needles. Before starting the 1/1 rib, you will need to add few extra rows to obtain the same length.
